Hey everybody! I'm trying to break out of my worrisome ADD patterns and take some initiative here. If you would like to get this thing moving, respond to my message with your preference on time, day of the week and like John mentioned, where you live or what part of town is best. I have checked with the main Denver public library for rooms, but if anyone has suggestions please let me know. Wednesday or Thursday evenings and weekends are good for me.
So that we ADDers can find some motivation to do this, I will set a deadline of March 15. From the responses received at this time I'll schedule a meeting for the week of April 1st. |

Good for you, Morgan. I live in Boulder but I can come to Denver. I can make most any time except Monday during the day.
I'd be curious how many of you are on medication. I've been on Dexedrine for almost 9 years. It makes an incredible difference in my life. |

Thursday evenings would work for me. I live just south of downtown, so the library at Broadway and 13th would be good.
Thanks for taking the lead - I hope we can get this off the ground! |

Excellent, Morgan! Thanks for getting this going. Being ADD (diagnosed a year ago as well), I don't exactly have the courage to start a group but am willing to be in one and see how it goes. I have a couple of friends who may want to join, as well, though I doubt that they know about Meetup. I'll alert them to this group and get back to you.
I'm free most evenings but definitely not during the day; probably Wed or Thursday would be best. I also recommend that if the meeting turns out to be less than 12 people, we could round-robin from house to house, month to month. Thanks again! Sam |

Thanks for organizing! Weekday evenings are preferable for me. Downtown Denver location around the library is fine. To build in some continuity for future planning, it might be a good idea to choose a set date for each month with a permanent location--at least for the next few months. Unless you want to keep things update on this meet up site and have people check the site for time/date and location. Given the track record from last year, with a set date/time and location attendance was sparse--so maybe rotating might work. Notice how in my classic ADD, I am keeping all options open. Best regards, Tom |

It's great to hear some interest developing! As far as location, would everyone rather it be in a controlled environment like a conference room at the library or someone's house or a more public setting like a cafe/restaurant? The idea of meeting at someone's house to begin with sounds like an excellent idea but I'd like to hear more thoughts on this.

While I think it would be, perhaps, more "user-friendly" to rotate from home to home eventually, I think the first two or, possibly, three meetings ought to be in a controlled atmosphere. Mostly, this would allow us to see how many folks show up on a consistent basis...and who is willing to move from home to home...or stay in a controlled atmosphere with less distractions. I honestly think that meeting in a restaurant or cafe may be a bit too distracting and I, for one, can get distracted pretty easily! I expect the Library downtown may be the most centrally-located for us to start....then we can figure out the home-to-home or alternate location ideas.
All best- Sam |

Hey everyone,
Here are the details with regards to the meeting rooms at the central library. There are two rooms which both cost $25/hour, one that holds up to 16 and another that can hold up to 30. They do provide a discount for non-profit organizations but there are conditions to this depending on what time we are looking to reserve the room. I'm planning on getting more details from the event coordinator there soon so that we can get something set in stone. Another announcement I had was that recently I spoke with Tracy, a new group member who is an ADHD coach. She wants to help us to develop this by providing her expertise as a leader or in whatever role necessary. Thanks, Morgan |

Hey everyone, Morgan The first and only meeting I have attended was supposed to have happened at Kai's Restaurant, which was closed the evening of the meeting, so we found another restaurant in the area. I can't remember the name. It wasn't ideal because it was a little loud with a fair amount of activity, but it did work. I would suggest staying away from the library because of the cost. Don't you think there are several coffee shops in the downtown area that would work nicely? Metropolis in the Golden triangle neighborhood or the one in the Beauvalon building on Lincoln at about 8th? Also, I thought this group is for adults with ADHD. If that is correct? If Tracey has ADHD then welcome!! If not and her connection is as an ADHD coach, I would not be as welcoming. Best regards, tom |

I agree with both comments. Another meeting option is Panera Bread at 1310 Grant. They have a somewhat separate meeting room. Why don't we pick a night and a place and see how many show up?
I suggest April 3 at Panera Bread. |
