The group could be better than coaching and therapy. Knowing you are not alone is huge.

Join yes, then SHOW UP! Because for the price of a couple of hours of time and a couple of dollars, I can get almost as much wisdom about how to make my life work better almost as well than I can from an "expert" who will charge me from $90 to $350 an hour!

If you haven't been to an ADD meetup you are missing out,the effort is worth it.On my first meetup I found everybody to be receptive, understanding and genuine.Even though I came in a stranger the conversation flowed with absolute ease. The comradery of ADDers is one of a kind, not to mention interesting, don't deny yourself the experience.

First, I should tell you that I just joined and I haven't been to a meeting yet, but looking forward to my first. I was looking for a support group unsuccessfully for months before finding this one. I'm 59 years old now, and I was diagnosed only 4 years ago with this thing I've been struggling with since childhood. I wasn't convinced even after my diagnosis that ADD was what my root problem was. Not until this year, when I read Driven To Distraction, did I feel sure that ADD was real and that I was definitely afflicted with it; the parallels between the cases described in the book and my own were too striking and specific to leave any doubt. After finishing the book I felt compelled to at least try to gain more insight into my problems through relating with other ADDers and as yet, I have no ADD friends (that I know of) to compare notes with, so I'm very glad and hopeful at finding this group (4 stars for existing)! For the same reasons, I think others would profit from joining.

It is a great group. It is intimate and friendly. The group is very diverse and with various years of dealing with ADD and ADHD.

ADD isn't something you should face alone, this is a great support group.

What I'm not sure of is how well a bunch of people with ADD can function as a support group for each other. It's not at all like, say AA where those who are for the moment sober can help those embarking on a similar journey. Instead we have a neurological disease and we need to deal with how to cope with it. Unlike an alcoholic, we have no way to get on the wagon. I don't know how we can deal with this, but I think it's something we need to address.

I think we c still need to find ways to get people to communicate more on the message board.
