About The Toronto Adult ADD Support Group (TAASG)

What is the Toronto Adult ADD Support Group?
The Toronto Adult ADD Support Group (TAASG) is a proactive support group organized by and for ADD/ADHD adults. The group meets twice a month to discuss the challenges and advantages associated with ADD/ADHD. Through our meetings participants find support and encouragement that assists in building self-esteem and coping strategies to help meet the day to day challenges that they may face as adults with ADD/ADHD. Please note this is an ADD/ADHD support group:

  • the individuals attending these meetings are coming to learn how to better work with their ADD/ADHD in a safe and supportive environment -- please do not confuse TAASG with a social networking group
  • if you choose to attend, respect people's privacy in and out of the meeting
  • the meetings are not meant to replace medication(s) or therapy
  • the meetings and website are not to be used for the promotion or solicitation of goods and services which are ADHD related or otherwise-- those found doing so will be removed from the group immediately
  • the meetings and website are not to be used for professional or commercial research purposes-- those found doing so will be removed from the group immediately
  • respect people's privacy in and out of the meetings, emails, and website

Who attends TAASG?
The TAASG is for adults with or in the process of being diagnosed with ADD/ADHD who wish to share their experiences, learn about how to build coping mechanisms, and get encouragement on meeting the challenges they may face on a day to day basis in a relaxed and safe atmosphere. TAASG is not intended for Non-ADD/ADHD adults.

What happens during a TAASG meeting?
Generally speaking, the meetings are theme based around ADD/ADHD in a safe and confidential environment. Some meetings are theme based; some are open discussions; some nights we have guess speakers; and some nights we draw upon the already existing 'expertise' in the group. Group members are encouraged to share their successes and challenges as a way to learn from each other. The meetings start with the larger group, and then are broken into smaller groups. Volunteer facilitators help lead the larger group discussions and encourage all to speak and participate. Once again, this is a proactive support group organized by and for ADD/ADHD adults.

Does it cost anything?
TAASG is a free program. Because the group receives no funding and occasionally has costs related to photocopying and admin supplies, the group does a collection of $1 per person.

Where do TAASG meetings take place?
TAASG meetings are at:

Centre for Addictions and Mental Health
250 College St
Main Floor, Room G50 (near the washrooms)
Toronto, ON M5T 1R8

When do TAASG meetings take place?
Meetings take place every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, 6:30pm to 9:00pm. Please refer to our web site for changes/updated schedules and RSVP. We do ask that participants respect the start time and stay for the whole night.

Do participants need to bring anything?
It is always recommended that people bring something to take notes with, an open attitude, and a smile. smile

Any other requirements or expectations?
We encourage and recommend all to:

  • RSVP for meetings through the site
  • Refrain from sending 'Shout Outs' to new members -- please leave this to the organizers
  • Read our linked support documents below: 'Monday Meeting Rules',
